A Walsall organisation, built for our community
Walsall Community Active Projects is a not-for-profit organisation working with children, young people and adults across Walsall and the wider West Midlands. We give local people a safe, welcoming place to take part, build confidence and be part of something bigger than themselves.
Our doors are open to everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, faith or background. Our focus is on those who need us most: people facing deprivation, poor mental health, the risk of school exclusion, the pull of crime, social isolation, or insecure housing.
Any surplus we generate is reinvested back into the work, for the benefit of our community.
More than sport, more than support
We do not believe that one type of activity is enough. People in our community face a mix of pressures, so we offer a mix of support — joined up, in one place, delivered by people who understand.
Health, fitness and sport
Football, basketball, cricket, hockey, boxing, multi-sport and fitness sessions for all ages and abilities. The discipline of sport builds confidence, fitness and focus — and creates safe, structured places to be.
Education and alternative provision
Practical learning, study support and routes to recognised qualifications for young people at risk of exclusion or already outside mainstream school. We keep them engaged, raise their basic skills and open doors to college, training or work.
Mental health and wellbeing
Group sessions, one-to-one support and safe spaces to talk. We help people manage stress, anxiety and low mood, build resilience and feel less alone.
Mentoring and life skills
Trusted adults who walk alongside young people, helping them make positive choices, develop life skills and find their next step.
Crime prevention and diversion
Workshops, mentoring and activities for young people at risk of being drawn into gangs, knife crime or exploitation. Honest conversations about consequences, paired with real alternatives.
Family and housing support
Practical help for families who need it most — including signposting to debt advice, financial wellbeing guidance, and support to access safe and suitable accommodation.
This is our community
Walsall faces real and well-documented challenges. Parts of the borough are among the most deprived in the country. Too many of our young people are excluded from school, drawn into trouble, or simply have nowhere positive to go. Mental health pressures on young people and adults are rising. Housing insecurity touches families across the borough.
We do not work here because of a strategy document. We work here because this is home. We see the pressures up close, and we know the people who can help carry them — coaches, teachers, mentors, parents, faith leaders, neighbours. Our job is to bring all that together and put it to work for the people who need it.
Our values
Belonging
Everyone is welcome. No one is on the outside looking in.
Respect
For each other, for the community, for the people who came before and the ones coming after.
Honesty
With our young people, our partners and our funders. We say what we will do, and we do it.
Aspiration
We believe people can grow, and we work hard to help them prove it.
Partnership
We are stronger working with schools, the council, the police, housing providers and other community groups than going it alone.
Stronger together
We work alongside schools, Walsall Council, West Midlands Police, housing providers, the NHS, youth services and other community groups across Walsall and the wider West Midlands. We welcome partnerships that help us reach more people and join up services around the real needs of children, young people and families.
If your organisation works with the same communities we do, we would love to talk.
Be part of it
Whether you are a young person looking for something to be part of, a parent or carer, a partner organisation, a potential funder, or a volunteer with skills and time to offer — we would love to hear from you.
